This turmeric ginger latte is so healthy and tastes amazing! Turmeric is an incredible superfood because it has so many healing benefits. I actually remember being in pharmacy school and one of the doctors on my rotation told the story of a stroke patient who healed from high doses of turmeric. I’ll dive deeper into more of these benefits below, but first I wanted to share the full recipe:

Ingredients:

1 tsp fresh turmeric

1 tsp fresh ginger

2-3 tsp maple syrup or 1-2 tsp monk fruit

8 oz plant milk (I used Malk almond milk)

½ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Mince or juice fresh turmeric and ginger
  2. Add turmeric, ginger, maple syrup or monk fruit, plant milk, and cinnamon to the blender and blend!
  3. Pour liquid into a pot on the stove or a frother, if you have one
  4. Transfer to your fav mug and enjoy :)

Benefits of turmeric:

Research outlines the numerous benefits of turmeric including antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, anticancer, anti‐arthritic, anti‐atherosclerotic, antidepressant, anti‐aging, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, wound healing, and memory‐enhancing activities. Curcumin, in particular, boosts levels of the brain hormone BDNF which can improve memory and brain health. Since low levels of BDNF are linked to depression and Alzheiemr’s disease, turmeric may protect against these. Elemene, also found in turmeric, has strong anti-inflammatory effects and is approved in China for cancer treatment.

This drink is healthy and tastes amazing, it’s truly a win-win! Let me know if you try the recipe :)
