How To Get Bright Skin Naturally

Some of the most common comments I get on my videos are, “How do you get bright skin?”, “How do you get glowing skin?” In this post, I want to share some food, skin and lifestyle tips to help you achieve bright, glowy skin.

Brightness is amazing, but one of my biggest motivators is lessening the appearance of hyperpigmentation. Glowing skin is directly correlated to healthy skin, so without exfoliating the dead skin cells off, your skin is going to look a little duller.

Food

When you think of vitamin C, you immediately think of citrus fruits and that bright, beautiful color. You can associate this with your skin too! Vitamin C is an amazing brightening agent and has been shown to help boost collagen production, so I love it for that.

Food combining: the theory that because different foods digest in different ways, you should time when you eat them accordingly. Because berries and fruits are digested quickly, they should be eaten on an empty stomach, so I love to have organic berries in the morning. On top of that, fruit is the most detoxing food on the planet, so consuming fresh fruit, especially in the morning, is going to give you the most benefits. Take advantage of this and eat those foods that are going to give you a beautiful glow!

Lemon not only kick starts your digestion, it’s also full of vitamin C. The healthier our digestion, the less acne breakouts we’re going to get, and since acne and inflammation definitely do not make us look any brighter, we can make little changes in our diets to prevent that.

I love using little gadgets, like my lemon squeezer, to make my wellness habits easier. This makes me more inclined to squeeze a little lemon into my life! You can mix your lemon juice with water or take it as a shot (for that juice shop aesthetic).

Skin Care

  1. Cleanse. Before using any products, always start with a clean, dry face so the products can really absorb in your skin.Really cool exfoliation tip: Use a washcloth to scrub your cleanser off your face. (Just make sure to use it gently because if you scrub too hard, you can get a little bit of redness and irritation.)
  2. Product recommendation: L’Oreal 10% Pure Vitamin C SerumBringing it back to vitamin C! I love eating vitamin C, but for any form of treatment, the more localized you can focus something, the more effective it will be. I like this product because it’s PURE vitamin C so that is the focus and that is what you will get the most benefit out of. Use this product as a spot treatment or everywhere for visibly brighter and softer skin.
  3. Sunscreen. The first product you use is always going to be most effective, so always use them thinnest to thickest. I love ELTAMD UV Physical Sunscreen (tinted). This is a physical sunscreen, so it’s better for you than chemical ones and works immediately. I love that it is unscented and feels very clean, and the tint can help offset any chalkiness.

Lifestyle

Driving is one of the biggest culprits to getting sun damage, especially when it comes to dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles! I always keep my little emergency stash in my car with a big baseball cap that I don’t care about, a big pair of cheap sunglasses, and powder sunscreen in my glove compartment. These items have to LIVE in your car, so make sure they aren’t things you will want regularly! To recap:

Big baseball cap + big sunglasses + powder sunscreen = driving essentials. (It actually looks cute because big sunglasses are in fashion anyway.)

Those are my food, skin and lifestyle tips and tricks for brightening skin!
