My Workout Mentality

I get a ton of questions about exercise and working out and I wanted to back track and talk about how I used to approach working out and how that’s changed over the years.

I used to feel like if i wasn’t running / jumping / going SO “hard” that i wasn’t really getting a good workout. I looked at Pilates classes like i did today as breaks/days off. But now that I’ve learned how to really engage in these, I like slow much more than high intensity. Whether it’s Pilates or weight training, I’m all about it slowing it down 🧘🏻‍♀️

My advice is to do whatever works for YOU. And that might change over time like it did for me. The important thing is to find something you love, that inspires you, and that makes you feel naturally high afterwards. Because that FEELING is what you will chase. And then your workouts become consistent, and it becomes more of a hobby that a thing you just feel you have to do :)

Some of my favorite workouts are:

  1. Yoga

  2. Walking

  3. Weight training

  4. Pilates

  5. Melissa Wood Health workouts

Once I finally slowed down and changed my mentality on working out my body completely changed.

BTW side note – it took me so long to learn how to really feel slow & controlled movements. Spoiler: SQUEEZE SQUEEZE SQUEEZE way more muscles than you’d think you’re supposed to!
