Working Hard V. Overnight Joy

I love my career, but I didn’t always feel this way.

For those who don’t know what I do, I have an online wellness platform where I put out numerous forms of content 7 days a week. It doesn’t even feel like a career, it feels like a lifelong mission and passion. To be able to earn a living doing something you’re genuinely excited about is truly a blessing. I appreciate this more than many because I also worked in a career I hated for 8 years…

I worked as a retail and closed door pharmacist for 8 years, but I realized on day one (literally) that it was not the right fit for me. I spent a few years trying out different fields in pharmacy to see if that would make a difference and fulfill me, but none of it did. After a while I started working on building a platform online, and after doing both full-time for three years (pharmacist and side business) I was finally able to leave the pharmacy and work for myself full-time.

I used to feel like those years of working as a pharmacist were such time wasted and I could have started building my business right out of school. This thought bothered me a lot. But I don’t feel this way anymore…

Those years at the pharmacy gave me a forever sense of appreciation for the freedom and flexibility I have in my career now. Like genuinely every single day I feel grateful to be doing what I’m doing. And it feels so damn good to feel grateful everyday, especially as someone who never used to. One of my favorite things about doing what I love now is that vacations ending don’t even make me sad. I’m excited to get back to work and truly want to build and create forever

For anyone who needs to hear this: I promise you that working hard for something as opposed to just getting it overnight brings you so much more joy and pride – I’m so proud of my hard work paying off. So whatever you’re working on right now, keep in mind that the more you put into it the more you’ll get out!
